FALL VISITOR NIGHTS:
Saw-whet Owl Banding Station at Flathead Lake Biological Station!

Saturdays, Sept. 21-Oct. 19th, 2024

Join the Owl Research Institute for our public program of Fall Visitor Nights at our Saw-whet Owl banding station at the Flathead Lake Biological Station!

Visitor nights are open to the public, with advance registration. Every Saturday evening from September 21 through October 19th, we will host visitors for a one-of-a-kind experience to learn about the natural history of Saw-whet Owls, ORI’s current research, and the impacts of our long-term data collection.

On lucky nights, you may even get to observe the process of banding, measuring, and releasing back to its habitat a live Saw-whet Owl! Whether our banding nets are productive that night or not, you can expect to learn how we safely and ethically catch and release these owls, touch real owl feathers and specimens, and talk to Field Biologists about their work.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Advance registration is required and space is limited to 30 people each week, so register now by completing the Registration Form below or calling the ORI at 406-644-3412. Once you register, a few days before the date, we will email you exact details about getting to the location and the time to arrive. You will be asked to arrive around sunset. Visitors of all ages are welcome! Please contact us if you need any special accommodations.
